YOUR PRIVACY

Privacy Policy

Effective September 10, 2026

Bathroom Buddy is designed to find nearby restrooms without creating a public personal profile. This policy explains the information used when you visit or contribute.

Location

If you allow location access, your browser provides your approximate coordinates so Bathroom Buddy can search for nearby places and calculate distance. We use that location for the current search and do not attach it to your reviews or sell it.

Anonymous reviews and account-backed contributions

Your browser creates a random anonymous reviewer identifier. We store a one-way derived identifier with ratings, written comments and access verifications so one device can update its contribution without inflating counts. Other users see only a shortened anonymous reviewer label. Photos, added locations and reports require sign-in. When you sign in, we use a protected account identifier for accountability, rate limiting and abuse prevention; your email address and account identifier are not displayed with a review.

Information you submit and moderation

We store restroom ratings, comments, access verifications, added locations, reports and any restroom photos you choose to upload. Comments may be automatically screened, withheld or removed for hate speech, threats, personal attacks or spam. We may retain limited moderation records to prevent repeat abuse. Please do not include faces, license plates, private documents or other personal information in photos or comments.

Analytics and maps

We use Google Analytics to understand general traffic and feature usage. Advertising personalization and Google Signals are disabled in our site configuration. We do not intentionally send review text, anonymous reviewer IDs, search terms or precise GPS coordinates as custom analytics events. Google Maps services provide maps and place results and may process technical information under Google's own privacy terms.

Device and technical data

Our hosting and service providers may process standard technical data such as IP address, browser type, timestamps and security logs to deliver and protect the service. Your anonymous reviewer identifier is kept in browser storage.

Sharing and retention

Public contributions are shared with Bathroom Buddy visitors. Service providers process data only as needed to host, map, measure and secure the service. We retain contributions while they remain useful or until removal is appropriate for safety, legal or operational reasons.

Your choices

You may deny location permission and search by address instead. Clearing browser storage resets the identifier on that device. You can report a review or listing from its restroom profile, or submit a privacy request through our contact page.

Children

Bathroom Buddy is a general-audience service and is not intended for children under 13 to submit personal information.

Changes

We may update this policy as the service develops. The effective date above will show the latest revision.
